¿Cuántos phrasal verbs conoces? Si estas aprendiendo inglés, ya sabrás que es imposible no verlos por todos lados ¿verdad?
Los ingleses los usamos continuamente, quizá más en situaciones informales que cuando escribimos algo más formal; de todas formas, es raro que no utilices uno si hablas durante 5 minutos, jajaja.
Siempre digo a mis alumnos que la mejor manera de aprenderlos es por temas y luego aplicándolos a tu vida personal –si puedes utilizarlos hablando de tu propia vida es mucho más fácil recordarlos-. Así que vamos a ver todos los phrasal verbs que puedes usar cuando hablas de tus relaciones amorosas. Más divertido ¿verdad? ☺
– Ask out – pedir a alguien que salga contigo
e.g. I asked that boy out and he said yes! – Pedí salir a ese chico y dijo que sí.
– Break up – romper
e.g. We broke last month. – Cortamos el mes pasado.
– Break down – romper/acabar
e.g. Their marriage broke down after 10 years. – Su matrimonio acabo después de 20 años.
– Call off – acabar/romper
e.g. They called off their engagement. – Rompieron su compromiso.
– Call up – llamar
e.g He would call me up at all hours of the night. – Me llamaba a cualquier hora de la noche.
– Cheer up – animar a alguien.
e.g. He used to always cheer me up. – Siempre me animaba/me hacía sentir mejor.
– Count on – depender de alguien / fiarse de alguien.
e.g. I could always count on her. – Siempre podía contar con ella.
– Dress up – Ponerse guapo
e.g. I like to dress up when I go on a date. – Me gusta ponerme guapo cuando tengo una cita.
– Eat out – Comer fuera
e.g. I love eating out on a date. – Me encanta comer fuera en una cita.
– End up – Acabar
e.g. They ended up fighting all the time. – Acabaron discutiendo todo el tiempo.
– Fall out – discutir
e.g. They used to fall out over silly things. – Solían discutir sobre pequeñas cosas.
– Find out – descubrir
e.g. I didn’t want my parents to find out about him. – No quería que mis padres supieran nada de él.
– Get on/along with – llevarse bien con
e.g. We got along so well together. – Nos llevamos muy bien.
– Get away with – salirse con la suya
e.g. He used to get away with such terrible behaviour.- Se salía con la suya.
– Get over someone/something – superar a alguien /algo
e.g. It took him ages to get over her. – Tardó muchísimo en superar su relacion con ella.
– Get together – juntarse
e.g. We first got together last March. – Nos juntamos por primera vez el pasado marzo.
– Go after – perseguir
e.g. He went after her for years. – Le persiguió durante años.
– Go out with – salir con
e.g. I went out with him for over two years. – Salí con el durante más de dos años.
– Grow apart – distanciarse

– Hang out – quedar con alguien

– Let down – defraudar

– Split up – romper
e.g. We split up last night. – Cortamos anoche.
– Take back – aceptar de nuevo
e.g. Even though he cheated on, she still took him back. – Aunque le puso los cuernos, volvió con él.
– Turn down – rechazar
e.g. She turned me down! – Me dijo que no / Me rechazó.
– Work on – trabajar / intentar
